Year 3 Room 14 Government House Excursion 2025

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

This term, the Year 3 classes are exploring timelines, changes to our community over time and civics and citizenship as part of the Year 3 HASS curriculum. Students are learning abot the causes and effects of changes in the local community and how people who may be from diverse backgrounds have contributed to these changes. We are also focussing on who makes rules, why rules are important in the school and/or the local community, and the consequences of rules not being followed.

To coincide with these topics, we have decided to visit Government House and the Migrant Museum on North Tce, Adelaide on Thursday, 23rd October (Week 8, Term 3).

Departure and Arrival Times

On this day, we will depart St Pius X School at 10:00am and return by 3pm.  Students will be travelling in a private bus to and from North Tce. Please advise your child’s class teacher if your child suffers from motion sickness prior to the excursion, so that they can be accommodated.

Uniform

Students are required to wear their full St Pius X School uniform. Please check the weather forecast and ensure your child has the appropriate uniform for the day.

As we will be outside at lunchtime, so students must wear their hats. Sunscreen should be applied before school, and a jacket is recommended if the day is cool.

What to Bring

Students need to bring their fruit snack, recess, lunch and a drink bottle. Please pack this in a small backpack (clearly labelled with your child’s name and class). Please note: it is very important not to send foods that contain tree nuts and/or spreads such as Nutella and/or Peanut Butter due to allergies. Students will not require any spending money on the day.

Registered Parent Volunteers

To meet our student to adult ratio, we require two parent volunteers per class, who must have a current volunteer registration with St Pius X School. Volunteers will travel with us on the bus. Please note that preschool children are not able to attend. If you are able to volunteer on the excursion, please let your child’s class teacher know via Seesaw. Teachers will contact you directly to confirm. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher via Seesaw.

Cost

The cost of this excursion is covered entirely within the class excursion levy paid as part of your child’s school fees.  No out of cost expense will be passed on.

Please complete and submit ther permission form below by Tuesday 2nd September (Week 7, Term 3)

Thank you for your ongoing help and support in your child’s education.
