Support Programmes

Children that need extra support in their learning are catered for in a range of support programs.

Learning Assistance Program: a student-centred program providing individual support for students through the positive support of volunteerrs.

Chaplaincy:  Supporting the pastoral care and well-being of our students, their families and staff.  The School Chaplain provides a reference point for addressing social, religious, cultural and spiritual issues and offers students and families support and/or apprpriate referrals, in difficult situations and during life's challenges.  The Chaplain supports and encourages key Christian values and embraces the Catholic Ethos.

Social Work University Students:  In partnership with Flinders University we provide opportunities for fourth year Social Work student to undertake a significant placement at St Pius X School which supports our sutdents social, emotional well-being.

MacLit and MiniLit:  Children identified as requiring sustained intervention with literacy skills are provided long term support through participation in these programmes.  Student's reading and comprehension skills are enhanced and the programmes provide us with comprehensive assessment informaiton which demonstrates their progress.

Gifted and Talented: Students who demonstrate the capacity for high-intellectual potential are provided with extension and enrichment through the Primary Mathematics Challenge and Tournament of Minds programs.  Students with high intellectual potential (SHIP) will be given the opportunity to work in groups and teams on specific programs, including Philosphy for Children, Mathematics Enrichment and STEM accelerated learning.
