From the Principal - Ashley Keane
Dear Parents
Wow, it is hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of Term 3!
School hats:
We are now heading into warmer weather and in line with our sun protection policy, we are asking that all children have a hat at school. On days when the UV levels are high, we will be enforcing the ‘No hat, no play’ rule during play times.
From the beginning of Term 4, all children will be required to wear a hat during play times.
School Disco:
On Friday the 8th of September, our Parents and Friends Committee hosted a school disco for the children at St Pius X School. We had over 400 children attend the discos and all of the children appeared to have a wonderful night dancing and enjoying time with their friends. This was a great social event for our children.
I would like to thank Ali Badiei from Black Cherry Events for being the DJ at our disco. Ali is a parent at our school and did a great job at engaging the children and ensuring that they danced all night.
I would like to thank the following staff who assisted at our School Disco: Rosalia DiGiovanni, Nicolina Di Giovanni, Brittany Honner, Grace Toddman, Natasha Petrone, Amy Rypstra, Natasha Castelluzzo, Frank Terminello, Nigel Armstrong, Alaina Basso, Antony Sacrfo, Angela Terminello, Jenny Mittiga, Jessica Harmer, Rita Campbell, Jamie Deverson and Cassandra Figg for their support at the school disco.
We look forward to hosting the school disco as an annual event.
Parents and Friends – THANK YOU
I would like to thank the hard work of the Parents and Friends Committee who spent countless hours organising both the Father’s Day stall and the School Disco. Without the support of our Parents and Friends group, we would not be able to run these types of events for our children.
We have seen a growth in our Parents and Friends Committee, and we are always looking for volunteers to join this group to contribute new ideas and to continue to improve our community. The Parents and Friends group is not only a great way to support your children and the school, but it is also a good way to meet new people. If you are interested in joining, please contact Cassandra Figg in the front office and she will add you to the mailing list.
Notification of Students not returning in 2024 and change to school fee policy.
Just a final reminder that if your child is not returning to St Pius X in 2024, you need to inform the school in writing by Friday the 29th of September.
During the school holiday period we will be starting the process of ordering stationery and ICT resources for the 2024 school year. Parents who do not inform us that their child is leaving the school by the above date will be charged a full term’s fees as we will have already incurred expenses for your child for the 2024 school year. If you are unsure of your intentions for 2024 or want to have a conversation about this, then please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Class Placement Considerations for 2024.
In early stages of next Term, we will begin the task of placing children into classes for the 2024 school year. This is a very significant and time-consuming task as a lot of effort goes into getting the best class placements for all children. If there is anything that you would like us to consider for your child as part of the class placement process, then please ensure that you communicate this to me in writing by no later than Friday the 27th of October. A separate letter about the process for submitting class placement considerations was sent home to all parents earlier this week.
Father’s Day Breakfast
I would like to thank all of the parents who attended our Father’s Day breakfast on the 1st of September. We served over 600 bacon and egg or vegetarian sandwiches and it was great to see the wonderful community atmosphere that this event generated. I would like to especially thank all our wonderful staff who supported with the cooking of the breakfast. Many staff were at school by 7am to support with preparing the breakfast and I am extremely grateful for their dedication and support. I would also like to thank and acknowledge the work of Cassandra Figg who coordinated the RSVP’s for the breakfast and ordered all of the food.
Catholic School’s Music Festival
Next Tuesday night about 40 of our Year 5 and 6 students will be performing at the Festival Theatre as part of the Catholic School’s Music festival. The choir have been rehearsing for this event since the beginning of the year and have learnt the words and actions to ten different songs.
I had the pleasure of being invited to hear them rehearse last Thursday and I was absolutely blown away. The children sounded amazing! Thank you to Basia Jedrzecjczak who has done amazing job at preparing the children for this performance. I know that the children are going to sound brilliant on the night and light up the stage with their performance.
Anyone wishing to attend this event can contact the front office to find out about how to purchase tickets.
Year 5 Camp:
This week, our Year 5 children will be attending a three day camp at Woodhouse Activity Centre in the Adelaide Hills. The camp will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to spend some time together and engage in new activities. I am looking forward to spending three days on camp with the children and staff, getting to know them better.
