From the Principal - Ashley Keane
Dear Parents
Wow – where has this year gone?
I can’t believe that we are now only 3 weeks away from children finishing school for this year.
Colour Run
As you would be aware our colour run had to be postponed 2 weeks ago due to extreme heat. Tomorrow we will hosting the colour run and once again we have not been blessed by the kindest of weather. However I am hopeful that the weather will hold off enough for us to get through the event.
I would like to thank the community for the wonderful support of our Colour Run. As a school community we raised a total of $25,078.45. This is an amazing effort and this money will go to our P&F committee who will donate this money to support the purchasing of resources for our new Library. These resources will benefit all of our students.
I would like to thank the wonderful members of our Parents and Friends Committee who organised the Colour Run Event. I would also like to thank Cassandra Figg and Jessica Harmer who have worked with our Parents and Friends group to support the event.
Parents are welcome to join us tomorrow afternoon for what should be a very colourful event.
Staffing Announcement
It is with mixed emotions that I inform the community that Laura Baohm has decided to take a year of leave in 2024 to take up a position with Playgroup SA.
Laura is currently our Assistant Director at our OSHC program where she undertakes most of the planning for the OSHC and Vacation Care. Laura also works in the school’s playgroup and in the school’s SPARX transition program.
Those of you who know Laura, would be aware that she is a very energetic and relational person. After introducing some wonderful initiatives in both our Playgroup and OSHC service, Laura’s enthusiasm and skills have been recognised by Playgroup SA and she has been asked to support Playgroup SA in setting up their intergenerational programs. This is a wonderful opportunity for Laura and we wish her all the best as she undertakes her new role. We are currently in the process of appointing Laura’s replacement for next year.
End of Year Planning
As we draw to the end of the year, teachers have been working hard on putting children into classes for the 2024 school year. A lot of time and effort goes into trying to ensure that the learning and social needs of each and every child is optimised through the class placement process. The children will be spending an hour in their classes for next year on Friday the 8th of December.
End of Year Mass & Assembly
On Thursday the 7th of December we will be hosting our End of Year Whole School Mass in the school hall. The children have been working with Rita Campbell and Basia Jedrzejczak on this celebration and I have no doubt it will be a beautiful and prayerful celebration.
The Mass will commence at 9:15am. At this Mass we will farewell staff who and students who are leaving our school community.
We will also be hosting our final School Assembly for the year on Monday the 11th of December at 9:15am. Parents are warmly invited to attend both of these events.
End of 2023 and beginning of 2024.
Just a reminder that School concludes for students on Wednesday the 13th of December at 3pm. The school Office will close for the school holiday break on Friday the 15th of December at 12pm and will re-open on Monday the 22nd of January.
School will commence for students in 2024 on Tuesday the 30th of January.
Parents and children will be invited to book in for a 15 minute meet the teacher chat on Thursday the 25th of January 2024. Further information about these sessions and how to book will be sent home in the coming weeks.
Principal for the Day
Yesterday Ari and Bennett were the Principals for the day. I must say that after doing such a wonderful job, I think if the children were given a vote on the Principal of the school, I could very well be out of a job.
Ari and Bennett went around to all of the classes and let the children know they had no homework, had an extra 10 minutes of play at lunch time and also told the teachers that they needed to take the children out for an extra 20 minutes of fitness. These were all very popular decisions and were well received by the students. The children were also given a small treat at the end of the day. Well done Ari and Bennett, you did a fantastic job!
God Bless
Ashley Keane
