From the Principal - Ashley Keane
Dear Parents
Welcome to Term 3. It is very hard to believe that we are past the half way mark of the school year.
What a Wonderful School Concert
Our ‘Let us Entertain You’ school concert was a fantastic way to finish last term and was a wonderful community event.
I was so proud of how all of the children performed on the night and I know that they really enjoyed the experience of performing on stage in front of a very supportive group of family and friends. Every single act on the night was outstanding and every child is to be congratulated on their efforts.
An event like our school concert can not happen without the support of the whole community. Many hours went into the preparation for the concert and I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to all of the following groups of people.
Firstly, I would like to thank all of our teaching and curriculum ESO staff who spent many hours helping children with their rehearsals for their items, preparing the multimedia presentations which accompanied the performances, supervising children backstage, managing the children’s excitement and nerves on the night and participating in the concert in various ways.
Secondly, I would like to thank all of our Admin Staff who managed ticket sales, communication with families and who undertook various front of house and backstage roles on the night.
Thank you to our wonderful parents who were responsible for making their children look great on stage in their costumes. The children’s costumes were fantastic and I thank you for your efforts in helping add to their excitement. I also thank all of the parents, grandparents, other relatives and friends of the children who attended the concert and provided a very supportive audience for our children to perform to. Your energy and support on this night, made this experience extra special for the children.
Next, I would like to thank Ground-Force for their partnership with us. The team from Ground-Force were very professional and easy to work with.
Thank you to Futures Church for their support. Their staff were professional and fantastic to work with.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the children for the energy and enthusiasm that they brought to the stage and for making the rehearsal day and concert night such an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Performing on stage in front of over 1000 people is something that many children would not experience if this opportunity was not offered. The teamwork, cooperation and resilience showed by the children was amazing.
We look forward to hosting another school concert in 2026 – although I must admit I am now a bit nervous about how we might be able to match the efforts of this year’s event.
Welcome to our New Mid Year Receptions
At the beginning of this term we had 36 new children join us in our Mid-Year Reception classes. These children have had a wonderful start to the term and seem to be settling into school life very well. I would like to welcome Jenny Halikias and Julia Zhong who will be teaching our Mid-Year Reception classes along with Ashlee Stanley.
Community Events
Over the coming weeks we will be hosting two larger community events, please take note of the dates below for your diary.
Friday 23rd August
Book Week Dress Up Parade. All children will be invited to dress up for our annual bookweek parade which will be held on the school oval at 9:00am. Parents and grandparents will be invited to join us for this parade.
Friday 30th August
All families are invited to join us for our Father’s Day Breakfast and class visits. The P&F will also run a Father’s Day stall on this day. More information about this event will be sent home via the SZapp next week.
Building Update
During the school holiday period we had a large amount of building work occur at our school. The new staffroom area has been handed over to staff, although there are still some finishing touches to occur within this space and there is still a lot of building work occurring around the staffroom space. The new Italian Room will be ready in the coming week. The hold up in the building project at the moment is due to a delay in structural steel for the construction of the new staircase up to the library. We anticipate work on the new staircase will commence in late August. Once this is done the builders will be able to complete the Library, Meeting Room/General Learning Space and the Inclusive Education area. I anticipate this work will be completed by the end of this year.
Over the school holidays we also replaced the cladding on the outside of the Music Room, so that it matches the cladding on the STEM Terrace. We also had some storm water drainage completed near the entrance to the school and we are currently working on re-designing the front garden bed near the school entrance.
I look forward to a great term, working with the children, staff and community at St Pius X School.
God Bless
Ashley Keane
