From the APRIM - Rita Campbell

Sacramental Program

Congratulations to the 53 children from Year 3 and Year 4 who celebrated their Confirmation this term.

May the Gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to guide you and lead you in your faith journey.  May the saints that came before you continue to be role models of strength, kindness and love.

We now prepare for the First Holy Communion Mass on Sept 21st

Outreach and Social Justice

Thankyou to the Year 5 classes who committed themselves to the Soup Kitchen every Tuesday afternoon.  Containers of delicious soup were delivered to the Adelaide Centre for the Homeless each week.  The children learnt cutting and cooking skills and definitely shared their favourite recipes for next time.

Now we prepare for the Year 6 Mission Day on Tuesday 23rd Sept and SOCKTOBER next term.

National Catholic Education Commission Conference

I was fortunate to attend the NCEC Conference in Cairns in August.  I joined 1400 teachers from around Australia and New Zealand to listen to guest speakers and experienced educators speak about the many aspects of education, schooling and the challenges and successes for Catholic Education.

Sr Natalie Becquart spoke about a synodal/listening church who welcomes dialogue, inclusion, love, faith and healing.

Grace Langton presented research in the area of Trauma Informed Practises and the direction needed to support staff and children in this area.

Dylan Williams and Simon Breakspear offered insights into formative assessments, professional development for teachers and the use of AI in an education setting.

This conference definitely opened my eyes to the changing world of education, the importance of working in partnerships with families and outside agencies and how the church is certainly a part of the guidance needed for a wholistic and well-rounded curriculum.

Kind Regards
Rita Campbell
