From the Principal - Des Henthorn
It's been a busy couple of weeks in the office as Greg continues his journey along the Camino Trail.
Last Monday we completed our Aboriginal Cultural Competency training with Matthew, Chris and Jonathon. It was a great day where we got to ask questions in order to better develop our own understanding. We shared our stories and listened to the stories of others. Finally we gathered for a smoking ceremony. Such a great day. It was a privilege to share this experience as a staff.
On Sunday I assisted Mr Fowler and our Tournament of Minds team at Flinders University. In the time leading up to the competition our students independently prepared for the challenge put before them. They presented their efforts to a panel of judges. I was very proud of their maturity, excitement and dedication to the task. Congratulations to the group! They did St Pius X proud. Thank you, as always, to our support crew (mums, dads, aunties, brothers, sisters and grandparents). They were even prouder of you than we were.... if that’s even possible! The students will share their efforts at our Week 9 Assembly.
Last night our Year 3 students celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This sacrament offers Catholics an opportunity to obtain forgiveness and reconcile with God and the Church. I would like to thank Mr Terminello, Mrs Boksem and Mr Lloyd for their preparation of our students. The Sacramental program is another way that we strengthen our relationships with home, school and Parish. We are really thankful for these opportunities.
If you have been into the office you may have noticed I have displayed items of uniform. This is NOT the new uniform, these are just examples that have been presented to us. Please feel free to make any comments or feedback and I will ensure that it gets back to the Uniform Committee. Your feedback will certainly help them in the processes we are working through.
We will keep the community updated with all developments as they occur. If you could please fill out the survey (sent via Schoolzine) it will ensure the school community voice is heard.
Finally the Parent Survey closes this Friday. If your child would like to have the opportunty to be Principal for the day please fill out the survey and drop the form back to the school office.
Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine.
