School Board Report from the September Meeting - Marta Kalinowski
Tournament of the Minds - Des informed us about the which took place on Sunday 8th of September at Flinders University. The group of Year 5 and 6 students did a fantastic job throughout the competition, showing great team work, creativity as well initiative in the challenges that they were given. We are extremely proud. The students also were given the opportunity to present their work at last Monday’s assembly, which provided insight to all, as to what was involved in the tournament.
Update on Building Plans - Des has met with the staff from Horizons who will be looking after the Stage 1 Capital Development. The staff had been inducted and child protection requirements were addressed. It is expected that the work will commence during the Term 3 School Holidays, starting with the replacement of the air conditioners. As a result, the Hilburn Avenue Car Park will be closed at the end of the term 3 to accommodate the builders on site. Currently the P&F Shed is being emptied with the intention of it being a short-term building site office.
Parking around the school - It has been pointed out that some parents are still dropping off their children to school by parking on the yellow lines at the Windsor Grove Crossing. This is of great concern to the board as it is not only illegal but also it compromises student safety.
With the capital development commencing next term, it is probable that the traffic before and after school will become congested as a result of construction on site.
It is imperative that child safety is put first and we ask all families to follow the parking restrictions, which are there to best accommodate the traffic flow.
