From the APRIM - James Lloyd
Next week, we begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time when we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus. We are encouraged to do good deeds, make positive changes in our life, and draw closer to God and each other. There will be a Whole School Prayer Service with distribution of ashes, in the Hall next Wednesday commencing at 11:30am. All members of our community are invited to attend.
Later this week, you will receive a Project Compassion box for your family. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. This year’s Project Compassion theme is ‘Go Further Together’.
During Lent, we will hear stories of people from around the world who have been assisted by our donations through Project Compassion. We will publish these in our weekly newsletters and children will discuss the stories in class.
I encourage you to donate to Project Compassion throughout Lent and return your box to school before Easter.
