From the APRIM - James Lloyd

In the readings at Mass last weekend, we visualized God as our Shepherd – always caring for us and guiding us through times of trial. In his Sunday address, Pope Francis remembered the many health care workers who are working tirelessly to heal the sick, and comfort the dying, saying that their acts were of service to others. Here in Adelaide, we too, thank the health care workers who have worked tirelessly to ensure our safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m sure you would also join with me in thanking our teachers and school staff who have kept our school open and operating albeit, in a different form during this time.

This is a stressful time for many of us. We may have family members who are vulnerable and at risk of contracting COVID-19. Many of us care for older parents and are acutely aware of the importance of social distancing. New pressures have been placed on the way we do things, and in many instances, have required us to adopt new practices. Thank you for all you continue to do to support your children through this difficult time. Here at school, we continue to play our important role in maintaining structure, routine and rigorous curriculum delivery.

The prayers of our staff join with your prayers as we navigate our way through COVID-19 and emerge at the other side, hopefully sooner than later.

This coming Sunday, we celebrate our mums. Mother’s Day is a beautiful day where we acknowledge the amazing impact our mums have on our lives. All of our mums are special and no two are the same. However you celebrate Mother’s Day this year, I pray that your day is filled with love. Thank you mums for all you bring to the life of our community!

Prayer for our Mums

Good and Gentle God,
we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all women who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life.

You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings.
Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.
Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for the physical and spiritual growth of their children.
Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood.

Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most.
