From the Principal

Dear Families,
May I begin by expressing our deepest sympathy for all of our families who have relatives and loved ones overseas facing a crisis as COVID-19 spreads and grows. In particular, over the last fortnight, we have heard about this crisis in India and I know that many of our wonderful Indian families are directly affected by this. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, always. You must be so concerned about your parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties, nephews and nieces, cousins, closes friends. Please let me know if there is anything that we can do to support you in these times. If this situation, or any other complexity has arisen due to impact of COVID-19, we may be able to provide some financial remission to assist you with school fees. We believe, especially at this time, your children need the support of both family and school, and St Pius X  is the best place to partner you in this endeavour. I do not want to see one family leave our community because of financial pressures placed due to the virus. So please, come in and talk. I say this sincerely to all of our families.

May I welcome you all back to Term 2.  In speaking with the children, I know a lot of you were able to make the most of the break and at least spend some quality time together. We also had record numbers in Vacation Care and I also know that these children enjoyed this time.

I welcome our Acting Deputy Principa,l Alicia Boylan, to St Pius X. I have introduced her to the community and know that she will undertake the role with great enthusiasm and professionalism. We welcome back Danae Hamilton (Year 3), Rosanna Perrotta (Year 4) and Annette Rowe (Year 5, from leave). We all look forward to a great term ahead.

On the final day of Term 1 we welcomed our Reception parents and their children to join us in a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic.’ It was fantastic to be able to greet so many on our site, the first time since COVID-19 restrictions were put in place. May we be able to offer opportunities for other parents into the future, commencing with our Mother’s Day Stall and activities. Also. we are following up with inviting a parent from each class to be our ‘Parent Connect’ rep to help us arrange activities that will bring the community together.

Kiss’n’Drop
A reminder to please not park  and stay in kiss n drop.  Once your child has exited/ entered your car safely, please forward out of the zone to allow other cars to enter. Please also no parking near the school crossing illegally and obey all signage on Hillburn Ave. Give yourself an extra 5 minutes to account for delays, or park and walk in. Those parents who have been at other schools would agree with me, we have nothing to complain about here with off street kiss n drop, dedicated car park, 10 minute parking on Acton Ave and ample parking within 100 metres of the school.

Building
Have you noticed the development? We now have concrete slabs on both levels, a new staircase and steel framework complete!. All is on track for an end of Term 3 completion.

Uniform
Thankyou to all families who have attended to my request to ensure children are wearing ‘predominantly white’ shoes. This has been policy since 2013.

Finally a reminder of the Pupil Free Day on Friday June 11th. This is essential for staff to undertake a new requirement for First Aid Training.

I am looking forward to the term ahead!

God Bless,

Greg
