Hi Everyone, and welcome to the 2022 school year. My name is Jamie Deverson and I am the new Deputy Principal of this wonderful school. I am 43 years old and have 4 Children. My oldest is 19 and is in her second year of University, studying to become a teacher. My son has just started high school and I have another child in Year 5 and my youngest is 3 years old. I am a massive NBA fan and follow the Golden State Warriors. I am also a Port Power fan and enjoy mountain bike riding and going on holiday adventures with my family.

This is the fourth school I’ve worked at. I started my career as a teacher at Catherine McAuley before becoming an APRIM and moving to Our Lady Queen of Peace. After that I won a position at St Joseph’s Kingswood as a Deputy where I have been for a little over 5 years. I actually hadn’t really planned on moving schools but at the end of last year I found out that Ashley had won the position as Principal here and that they were going to advertise for a new Deputy. I had come to know Ashley over the past few years with connections in Catholic Education and attendance at Professional Development. I knew that Ashley would be a great leader and felt like we would complement each other well. I also investigated further and found out about the wonderful things the teachers were doing here and heard about the recent and ongoing building development. I thought this was a really exciting opportunity and one too great to pass up, so I decided to apply. And I am really glad I did. I am absolutely loving it here. The staff, parents and students have been so welcoming, and I am enjoying working with Ashley and James the APRIM. I am feeling very grateful to be a part of this beautiful community. I am really looking forward to getting to know the students further and helping our teachers provide a world class educational program. I am very interested in the research associated with education and supporting teachers to become the best educators they can be and helping students grow into productive citizens and independent lifelong learners, in a safe and encouraging environment.

My personal philosophy is based around always being positive and believing that there is always a solution to every problem. Ashley and I are here to support your family and ensure your child is safe, happy and learning. We want our students to be high functioning, literate and numerate individuals, that are full of joy and confident to take on all of life’s challenges. My door is always open, and I can’t wait to meet everyone and share in your child’s learning experience at St Pius. If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
