From the School Board Jason Alford - Board Meeting Report
Monday 28 February was our first School Board meeting of the year, and our first with Ashley & Jamie. We learned more about Ashley and Jamie, which included their strong emphasis on student wellbeing, building community & leading teaching & learning, along with both being Port Power supporters.
Building Update
We heard that in the coming weeks, the school will be preparing for the commencement of Stage 2 of the building project. This will see the development of a new two storey building which will host new Reception classrooms, library, music room, Junior Primary toilet block, staff room & admin area.
Community Engagement
This year St Pius X will be celebrating the school’s 60th Anniversary. We heard the school is planning to use this occasion to relaunch and re-invigorate our school community after a quiet couple of years. Some early ideas to reconnect community were discussed among the group. The School Board are really excited by the prospect of the whole community coming together to celebrate St Pius X’s 60th Anniversary throughout 2022. We also discussed how there will be opportunities for those interested, to help prepare an activity. More information to come.
Nature Play
We heard that Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children are now allowed on the current nature play space. The children are really enjoying playing on this exciting play space.
