Thank you
As you are aware I will be joining the Emmaus Catholic School Community for Term 2. I have met with Mrs Alicia Boylan who will be replacing me for the Term. I know that she is really excited to work with you all. I know you will make her feel very welcome.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for your well wishes. I know that COVID presented us with challenges last year and that in a lot of ways we are still cautiously settling into our new normal but I thank you for your ongoing support.
I wish you and your family a restful holiday and a great Term 2. I look forward to following you all on Facebook next Term.

As I sat in church over the Easter Triduum, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy. A year ago, we could not gather as a faith community to celebrate Holy Week and Easter. For much of the past twelve months, we have not been able to sing in church, and have had to ‘book’ a space to attend weekend Masses. Albeit wearing masks, our churches were full during Holy Week and here at St Pius X, Dernancourt, we were able to sing. To say it was a moving experience is an understatement.
I trust that you and your families had a wonderful, joy filled Easter. The resurrection of Jesus fills us with hope. May the coming holidays bring you an opportunity to rest and refresh after a busy first term.
Blessings,
James
From the Acting Deputy Principal - Alicia Boylan
Hello, my name is Alicia Boylan and I am very excited to be working at St Pius X School during Term 2 as the Acting Deputy Principal.
I have extensive experience in Catholic Education SA. I have a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education, and I am experienced junior primary teacher. I also love to work and play with young children and their families in playgroup, preschool and occasional care, and I hope to be able to come along to as many Little SPARX Playgroup sessions as I can.
I am an experienced Deputy Principal and am looking forward to working with teachers and the school community to continue to deepen my knowledge as a leader. I am sure that working in a large school like St Pius X will provide a great deal of new opportunities!
Last week I was fortunate to come to St Pius X School to meet with Greg and the leadership team and to be shown around the school. I am sure that it won’t take me long to learn my way around and to learn some names! I am looking forward to working closely with teachers and spending time in classrooms so that I can get to know the children as well.
I am also looking forward to meeting as many families as I can, and I would welcome the opportunity to meet and talk with you. Please make sure that you say hello and introduce yourself!
Until then, have a wonderful break. I look forward to working with you in Term 2!
Change to School Office Opening Hours
From next term the School Office will open at 8:00am and close at 4:00pm.
We are looking to establish a 'Parent Connect' social representative for each class, and across all year levels, from Term 2 onwards. This role is about building a strong relationship between parents and families outside of the classroom environment. This will assist in developing and maintaining friendships between children.
Please refer to the attached document for further details.
Deposit books maybe brought to school on Friday for processing - books will be returned to your child via their Classroom boxes.

“Hearty congratulations are due to singing student Javale, of 4BT, for his success in his recent AMEB ‘Singing for Leisure, Grade 3’ exam. Javale received an A, an Honours grade – due recognition for his talent and application. Bravo, and well done, Javale!
Thanks for your attention.
