This coming weekend, the Diocesan Assembly takes place. Representatives of parishes and schools from our Archdiocese will gather on Friday evening and all day Saturday to discuss the life of the Church and make recommendations. I will be attending this gathering as a representative from our school and parish. If you would like to find out more about the Diocesan Assembly, please visit https://adelaidediocesanassembly.org.
Next Monday evening, our wonderful school choir, under the direction of Mrs Jedrzejczak will be performing in the front row of the Catholic Schools Music Festival. Our students have been working towards this event since the beginning of the year. If you have booked your tickets for Monday evening, you will be in for a treat! Well done choir!
Blessings for the week ahead.

Choir News
Well the time has nearly come! Next Monday, our 40 St Pius X School Choir members will be performing at the Opening Night of the Catholic Schools’ Music Festival. After 3 terms of weekly rehearsals and learning all the repertoire and choreography, these amazing and talented musicians from Years 5 and 6 will be singing in the Front Row (of 11 rows) at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Such an honour for our Choir! Huge congratulations to Yasmine B (6M) who has been chosen to sing the opening solo for “One Moment in Time” and to Tahlia S (6JT) who will represent St Pius X and sing “Advance Australia Fair” at the start of the Festival, along with one representative from each of the schools performing on our night! I would like to thank the 8 students (4 sopranos and 4 altos) who willingly offered to help out Rows 2 and 3 on the night. (Their schools were low in numbers and we had extras!)
It is not too late to buy tickets for next Monday 20th September (Week 10)
If you would like to attend the Festival for an evening of outstanding performances encompassing a 400 voice choir from Catholic Primary Schools in SA, instrumental ensembles, vocal groups and remarkable solo artists, you can book tickets at Ticketek (see below). School Board Report - Tessa Carey
The Board met last night to discuss a range of topics including -
The new building - work is continuing but has been delayed for various reasons, most notably the challenge in keeping tradespeople on site for long periods of time. We are hoping for an early November completion. New furniture for the building has also been delayed due to the lockdowns here and in New Zealand.
The new Principal's position has been advertised and is in the early stages of the appointment process.
Next year the school's iPads and MacBooks will be replaced for both students and staff - this is very exciting for everyone!
NAPLAN results are on their way to parents of students in Years 3 and 5. The delay in distrubition to schools is due to the process of comparing data from a number of different jurisdictions around Australia. You can expect to see your child's report in the next week or 2.
“Our Experience at the San Remo Studios of Radio Italiana 531 am by Mia E and Yesha P 4A.
On Thursday, the 9th of September 2021 we were fortunate enough to go on air and interview the Station Manager, Marco Petta. We were educated about how recording studios work, Marco’s background, and his role at the station. Marco was born in Milano, Italy. He came to Australia 10 years ago. When he was younger, he didn’t know about the job, so he had no thoughts about it. He started working with the radio when his friend mentioned it to him. Before he worked with the station, he sold coffee. Marco has worked as a Station Manager for about 3 months.
Our experience was extremely fun and amazing.”
Stay tuned this week on Radio Italiana 531 am from 6.00pm to 6.30pm where Year 4 students Levi G and Ryan N will interview the President of Radio Italiana 531 am. Tune into 531 am or download the app Radio Italiana 531 am to listen from your phone.
Students Ariella G and Milana G have also been busy brainstorming and utilising their creative thinking skills and designing their own cakes.
More exciting projects to come from Year 2 SHIP students.
Wellbeing Day and casual clothes fundraiser for the Leukemia Foundation
Next Friday, 24th September, we will be celebrating the end of Term 3 with a whole school Wellbeing Day. Students may wear their favourite sport colours or casual clothes and are asked to bring a gold coin donation which will be donated to ‘The World’s Greatest Shave’, which raises money for the Leukemia Foundation.
There will be a jumping castle and each student will receive a small packet of fairy floss as a treat. Students will continue enjoying their day with classroom activities to celebrate a wonderful term together.
We appreciate your support of our fundraising efforts and the Wellbeing Day.
