Monday 8th November - Pupil Free Day
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I seek your understanding in relation to scheduling a ‘Pupil Free Day’ on Monday November 8th. Note that there is not a Pupil Free Day at the commencement of next term (Week 1 - school resumes on Monday 11th October as per usual in Term 4).
In essence, we wish to have as few people on site as possible to undertake final stages of the building works. It is envisaged that there will be many trucks coming and going with furniture deliveries on this day. As well, I have 3 quite large trees that need to be removed in order to commence demolition work later in the year (we will be replacing these trees with more suitable specimens for the Early Years Nature Play area).
Our Builders, Horizons Constructions, will also have total access to Stages 1C and 1D on November 8th as they undertake final works prior to building completion. St Pius X school staff are being asked to work off-site.
We will make OSHC available for the day for families who have no alternative care arrangements but we do want as few on site as possible as there will be restricted play space. If you are able to arrange care for your children, that would be a great help. For those needing to book into OSHC for the day, notification for this will be made early next term.
Wellbeing Day and casual clothes fundraiser for the Leukemia Foundation
This Friday, 24th September, we will be celebrating the end of Term 3 with a whole school Wellbeing Day. Students may wear their favourite sport colours or casual clothes and are asked to bring a gold coin donation which will be donated to ‘The World’s Greatest Shave’, which raises money for the Leukemia Foundation.
There will be a jumping castle and each student will receive a small packet of fairy floss as a treat. Students will continue enjoying their day with classroom activities to celebrate a wonderful term together.
We appreciate your support of our fundraising efforts and the Wellbeing Day.
Last Thursday listeners of Radio Italiana 531 am were captivated with the interviewing skills of Levi L and Ryan N. The students produced their own script and interviewed the station President Mr Mario Romaldi causing a hotline of callers to phone through sending accolades to the students.
“On the 16th of September we were really fortunate to visit Radio Italiana 531 am! We were also lucky enough to interview the President of the station Mr Mario Romaldi. We went on air at around 6 o’clock and it was so much fun! Mario was a fun and compassionate guy. “

Year 2 students have been busy building Viking ships, preparing presentations, writing their own stories to read to the early year students, creating their own artwork plans to present to the Principal and studying the brain and nervous system to talk to the Year 5 students in Term 4.
Information for Volunteers - new Responding to Abuse and Neglect training
Thank you for the support you continue to provide by being a Registered Volunteer here at St Pius X School.
There are changes to the requirements in respect of the Responding to Risks of Harm Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) training which is one of the essential components of your Registration.
As your volunteer work here is with children (under 18 years), you are a mandated notifier and all volunteers must now update their training which is available via this link - RRHAN-EC training.
The training must be undertaken and your Certificate provided to Susan Trimboli (either paper copy or via email to strimboli@stpiusx.catholic.edu.au) before end of this term.
Please contact the school if you have questions and thank you again for your participation in the life of our school.
We congratulate Eva C of Year 6M, who participated in the SA Primary School Golf State Championship, representing St Pius X School on the 9th and 10th September.
Eva came 3rd in the Metro Girls Final and was Runner up for the SA Girls State Championship.
