From the Acting Deputy Principal - Alicia Boylan
This term is speeding along!
Teachers are busy working on reports and classes for next year.
Swimming lessons will begin on Monday November the 22nd, for Reception to Year 2 students. More information will be sent out this week.
We are also planning our STEM Showcase for November the 24th, so please keep that evening free. More details will follow soon.
As the weather warms up, please make sure that your child brings their hat to school. St Pius X School has a "No Hat No Play" policy. Children who do not have a hat to wear will be asked to sit in the shade.
At the end of Term 3 I collected many, many plastic food containers that had not been claimed. Please make sure that ALL items sent to school are clearly labelled, this includes clothing, hats, water bottles, food containers etc. It makes it so much easier to return them to the right person!
Take care and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Yesterday we gathered as a school community to pray for those who have died. On All Souls Day, Catholics all over the world offer prayers for family members, friends and those who don’t have anyone to pray for them, that they are safe and rejoicing in God’s presence in heaven. Thank you to the many families who sent in photos of loved ones who have died. We prayed for them and their photos reminded us of their presence in our lives. Hopefully next year we will be able to welcome our parent community to this special prayer service.
Those whom we love and lose
are no longer where they were before.
They are now wherever we are.
St John Chrysostom
Blessings for the week ahead.
School Board Report - Jason Alford
New Principal appointed
The Board are delighted that Ashley Keane, from Our Lady of Hope School (OLOH) at Greenwith has won the position of Principal at St Pius X School from 2022. This is an exciting time for our School, as we acknowledge the great leadership of Greg during his time at St Pius X, and we warmly welcome Ashley, our new Principal.
Sports Day
Sports Day was a great event, held over 2 days, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. It was also wonderful to see so many parents come along, which really helped create a strong sense of community.
Little Sprouts Kitchen excursion - Receptions
It was reported that Reception classes went on their first excursion earlier in this term. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Botanic Gardens. Thank you to the parents who volunteered.
Staffing & Allocation of Children into ClassesLeadership are really excited about the quality of teaching and support staff for 2022. It was reported that Teachers are currently allocating children to classes in readiness for next year.
Building Progress
We had a quick inspection of the new building, which is coming along well. The Board are really excited by the new teaching spaces and were particularly impressed with the new terrace upstairs. This new terrace area will host activities like STEM, with this space being another key differentiator for our school. We are on track to host the STEM Showcase in the new building on November 24th. It was also reported at the meeting, that the school will hold off from moving classes into the building until the end of school year. This will avoid having to move some classes twice.
A Reminder - Information for Volunteers - new Responding to Abuse and Neglect training
Thank you for the support you continue to provide by being a Registered Volunteer here at St Pius X School.
There are changes to the requirements in respect of the Responding to Risks of Harm Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) training which is one of the essential components of your Registration.
As your volunteer work here is with children (under 18 years), you are a mandated notifier and all volunteers must now update their training which is available via this link - RRHAN-EC training.
The training must be undertaken and your Certificate provided to Susan Trimboli (either paper copy or via email to strimboli@stpiusx.catholic.edu.au) before end of this term.
Please contact the school if you have questions and thank you again for your participation in the life of our school.
