We also welcome some new staff, including Lauren Hill and Anne-Louise Maiolo to the Year 1M class. Over the break we heard that Caitlin McManus (1M) has accepted a teaching position at Rostrevor College. Caitlin has been teaching here for 2½ years and will be greatly missed. We wish her well at her new school. Welcome also to our two student teachers, Kimberley Smith and Julia Koeffer who will be working with the Reception classrooms. Daneka Williams joins us as an ESO supporting classroom teachers. We also welcome back from leave Sarah Tirimacco (RD/T) and Tracy Mifsud (4M). There will be 2 Social Work Students starting in a few weeks, and they will introduce themselves to you when they commence.
I trust that you have had some time together to share during the school break. Next week we hare holding three way interviews for all Year levels excepting the new Reception class and 2 F/P (postponed until Ms Faraonio returns from leave). This is an excellent opportunity to meet your teacher, along with your child, to discuss the Semester 1 Report and to assist setting goals for Semester 2. If you haven’t booked a time, you will need to do so by tomorrow, Thursday 25thJuly.
At my last School Board Meeting I was able to show the general progress of our children in the area of literacy and this data was very impressive. We can clearly see the positive impact of the Initial Lit (R/1) program, Mini Lit and Macq Lit (small group intervention) and the whole school approach to the teaching of literacy, including the ‘Stars’ comprehension program. I am thrilled to let you know that the Initial Lit program will be extended to Year 2 in 2020. If you would like more information on this program, try this link.
Over the coming term I will provide links to information regarding our other Literacy initiatives from Years 2-6.
Our Tournament of Minds Team's training is well underway as they prepare for access to the 2019 Challenge and several classes have begun the Mathematics Challenge 2019. You may recall we were very successful in 2018 winning 6 State Awards!
It is a very exciting time of the year and lots to enjoy as our children are immersed into deep learning.

Term 3 Tuition Fees
These are due and payable by Friday, 2nd August 2019. If you have entered into a part time agreement to pay your fees over the whole year this due date does not apply. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please do not hesitate to contact me and part time arrangements can be made. Thank you to those parents who have paid promptly. Reminder statements will be posted home for parents who do not meet the due date. For your convenience, EFT, BPay, Visa and Mastercard are available.
Change of BPAY Biller Code
From beginning of this term, if you wish to pay your fees via BPAY, please note that the biller code has changed from “46698” to “299370” for our school. Please change your banking payment details for the school to reflect this change. Please also ensure that the full reference number (which is found on your statement) is entered so funds can be applied to the correct family.
Debtor Identification
A substantial payment was deposited into the school bank account on 17th May 2019 and, unfortunately, I can not identify the debtor who paid the money as the reference is incomplete. If you made a payment for school fees on this date, please contact me on 82669404 or email finance@stpiusx.catholic.edu.au
If you are holders of a Health Care Card you may be eligible for School Card and therefore Fee Remission, which is granted by the school. Please see me if you feel you may meet the criteria or have any queries relating to fees.

Congratulations to Conor W who sat for his Voice and Communication 3rd Grade AMEB exam in June and received an Honours (A) result; exams require extra effort and commitment and we are so proud of Conor.
