Three Way Conversations (formerly Parent/Teacher Interviews) will be held in Week 3 of Term 3.
From the Principal - Greg Parker
Dear Parents/Carers/Visitors
Welcome back! A very special welcome to our new Reception students who commenced on Tuesday and have brought such joy and excitement to the community. We welcome - Yuri, Stella, Chloe, Ariella, Arshika, Gurasees, Eden, Chiyui, Owen, Sebastian, Isaiah, Kevin, Oliver, Jonathan, Sebastian, Aryan, Bryce and Hunter to Class RC, Levi to Class 6M and Tamanna to 3T.
Please take your time to have a look at the opportunities for creative play in a natural environment. As I have mentioned to the children, the space is still very much ‘bedding down’ so we are restricting numbers to one class at a time. As much of it has been designed for Senior Play and until the Junior Nature Play is available, classes from Reception to Year 2 are invited to use the space in school time, supervised by their teacher. Years 3-6 will have lunch time access for now.
COVID-19
I’m sure you share with us the concern about a second wave and whilst we are very fortunate so far in South Australia, our fear is that any complacency will lead to an outbreak that we can ill afford. So we are maintaining restrictions here and implementing extra procedures. Below is information that will be placed at our entrances. I have arranged an extra sanitise of the whole school this weekend and we will ensure handwashing practices continue.
Please do not enter the school grounds if you have:
Returned from NSW, ACT or VIC within the past 14 days and are required to quarantine.
Been in close contact with a person who has returned from NSW, ACT or VIC within the past 14 days.
Been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
Are currently unwell and experiencing any of the following symptoms:
Fever
Cough
Sore Throat
Shortness of Breath
Body aches
Chills
Runny nose
Fatigue
Thank you for helping us to protect the health and safety of our school community.
Three Way Conversations
These have been arranged for Week 3. If you have not booked a session, please do so as this will be our first time to provide these as the Term 1 conversations were suspended due to COVID restrictions. If you are unwell or unable to attend, please book a time and let your teacher know and we can organise a phone conference. As mentioned, the 3 way conversations will allow your child’s teacher to present your child’s progress against the Australian median for that year level as well as set goals for achievement by years end. This has partly been driven by the cancelation of NAPLAN 2020 and parents being unable to see standardised data regarding their child’s progress.
Building Progress
We are currently transforming the old Inclusive Education Room into a full sized classroom (next to Reception TS which is the old Music room). This will allow our Reception M/S class to have their own room much sooner than if waited for completion of new building. At this stage we are on track for a mid August completion of our new building enabling us to move the Years 1, 2 and 5B/T classes in. This will be followed by demolishing the transportable classrooms ready for the next building project, commencing in September. Throughout the project, I am pleased to say that we are operating within the budget which has allowed us to continue with Stage 1D.
Looking forward to the term ahead, let’s stay positive, hopeful and safe!
God Bless,
Greg
