Students using Social Media
Early this week I received a report from a parent advising me that there are a number of our students wearing their school uniform on Tik Tok. This is very distressing for two reasons. Firstly, students are required to be 16 years of age to create a Tik Tok account. Secondly the sharing of personal and private information, such as the school logo on uniforms put children in a vulnerable position. They can be easily identified.
Last week, Greg invited parents to look at the esafety.gov.au website. The attached link comes from this website and it talks about a list of 10 tips to keep you safe on line. https://www.esafety.gov.au/kids/I-want-help-with/being-safe-online
Tip 4 specifically states
Keep your personal information private — don’t give out your address, which school you go to, phone number or passwords.
I also posted a link on our school Facebook page alerting parents to a free Zoom Workshop being run by Mark Le Messurier titled “Grrr…. Get off that Computer Now!” on Wednesday 23rd September 7.00pm – 8.30pm. If you are interested in participating in this workshop please email Mark for your logon details. mark@marklemessurier.com.au.
The aim of this workshop is for parents to maintain a positive relationship with their children whilst helping them find the balance between screen fun, real-life and everyday commitments. It may help you manage the common unfounded comment that you hear from your children, that is, “Everyone else is allowed to but me”!
A number of cars are stopping in ‘no standing’ zones (on yellow lines) and over driveways of other properties when dropping children off in the morning.
This is not safe for our children and community. Council regularly patrol this area and issue fines. We ask all our community members to follow road rules when dropping off and picking up children each day.
